Since starting year 13
Since we started year 13, we have learnt a number of theorists specializing in music videos. Each theory states something different about what music videos include and why they are included. By learning about these theorist we know more about what our music videos should include and what style we should film it in. While learning about the theorists, we had to create four timeline prezis, 80s-10's. We were given an artist from each decade and from that decade we had to talk about at least three of their music videos and relating it to the theorists we have previously learned. We also completed our first two challenge - the music video challenge and the lip sync video. We made these two videos to help us learn the basics of editing in Premiere Pro.

5 videos that inspire me
Lawson - Learn to love again. This video is a performance music video. This video fits the Simon Firth theory. It was filmed at their headline gig and you can tell that it is a live performance because it cuts to the crowd and includes the noise from the crowd. It shows that the band are popular as the fans are screaming enthusiastically.
Train - Drive by. This music video is a video that has most conventions of a love song; they meet, get to know each other find out they like each other he leaves, she gets upset but then he surprises her by coming back for her. This is what happens in most music videos with a love song. The video is both narrative and a performance as it cuts between the story line and them performing. This fits into Steve Archer's music video theory.
Little mix - Change your life. This music video is made up of a studio performance and footage of the band being themselves "being normal". They do this because they want their fans to see that although they are big and famous, they are still four normal girls who still like to mess around like regular girls do.
These five videos inspire me because they are from different genres sung by very different artsits. The style of video and who/what the video is about ranges from love stories to self confidence.

Steve Archer
Steve Archer stated that the relationship between the narrative and performance in music videos should be strong and coherent. Often they will cut between the narrative and the performance of the song. Sometimes a choreographed dance may be a part of the performance or an extra aspect of the video specifically designed to aid the visualisation. The majority of times, the actual singer is part of the narrative acting as the lead. An example of this is Olly Murs Trouble Maker and Somebody to you The vamps ft Demi Lovato and Pixie Lott Broken Arrow.
